JBV is a CPS vendor (Vendor # 67129) and accepts POs if your school is paying for your class.

CPS Policy on Lane Credits. Notice: CPS allows up to 9 lane credits per vendor per year. If you exceed that number with JBV, try taking our classes for graduate credit as our university partner is a different professional development provider.

JBV Refund Policy. JBV provides a full refund prior to the start of the course, partial refunds the first two weeks of the term, and no refunds after two weeks.
For graduate credit classes: Students pay JBV $209 to register for class 2-3 weeks into the quarter, students will get an email link to pay the additional $135 for the graduate credit. Note certain classes which require grad credit below including all endorsement classes as required by ISBE.

Explore several different models/theories and decipher strategies that can be applied in K -12 classroom settings. Covers basic skills and knowledge for creating a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction and effective communication





Best Practices I



An overview of the research and practice of current standards-based Best Practices in the field of education and how that is translated effectively into the classroom with regular and special needs students.









Best Practices IV



An examination of the changes post-covid that educators are facing and a review of strategies that can enhance students' academic and social-emotional success.





Engaging the Reluctant Learner



An overview of the research on teaching reluctant learners: skills and strategies across the curriculum consideration of social factors, choice and control, building motivation and confidence and assisting struggling students.


Engaging the Reluctant Learner III:
Post-Pandemic Classrooms



How our student population has changed in the last 3 years along with how their expectations (along with their parents’) have shifted. It also means that we must assess and address those students who feel left out, dis-engaged and unmotivated in the transition.

The course will explore: What are new, creative ways in which to engage with my students: What are new ways in which to do Classroom Management? Ensure Differentiation? Use Technology Creatively? And Revise out Instruction in order to Engage Students?



ESL Foundations of Bilingual Education



ve course for the ESL endorsement sequence. Provides an overOview of the foundations of bilingual education.





ESL Linguistics



Overview of English language structure and use, including phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. Emphasis on topics useful to teachers of English language learners.





Bilingual Methods



Preparation for teaching in situations involving limited English proficient students learning through the medium of the first or second language or a combination of both materials, approaches and methods and the necessary sets of strategies and techniques




Grant Writing for Public & Private Funding



An overview of the development and submission of proposals for government and private funding. Students will develop a proposal for potential submission. A focus on searches for funding sources, administration & evaluation of projects. GRAD CREDIT ONLY




LBS1-Assessment of Learners with Special Needs



The theoretical and practical aspects of assessing learners with special needs. Tests used to assess intelligence, school achievement, aptitude, language development, and social and emotional adjustment of exceptional children will be reviewed.





LBS 1- Survey of Exceptional Children



The identification, etiology, and the intellectual, physical, emotional, social, behavioral, and educational variance of students with disabling conditions. Definitions, prevalence, causation, legal issues, and special education interventions and techniques will also be discussed. GRAD CREDIT ONLY





RTI/MTSS Implementation



The course is appropriate for all grade levels K-12 and covers implementation of RTI for academic and behavioral purposes. Appropriate whether you are using RTI for eligibility purposes or simply as a way to improve instruction and increase learning. Will cover new CPS tracking system: Branching Mind Basics






SPANISH FOR EDUCATORS-I



For educators who are beginner learners of Spanish. Introduction to simple Spanish grammar and knowledge of the Hispanic culture how to communicate with English learners whose native language is Spanish and their parents. Emphasis on basic communication skills associated with real-life classroom situations,

For those who have completed Spanish for Educators I. Will continue the study of Spanish grammar and knowledge of the Hispanic culture and how to communicate with English learners whose native language is Spanish and their parents. Continuing communication skills associated with real-life situations, the classroom environment.

Supporting Students Struggling w/Substance Use



An overview of the continuum of substance use, 2.) the effect on the family the effect on a child's emotional, social and academic development, whether they or a family member are abusing substances, and 3. school-based and classroom-based strategies educators can use to address them.





Trauma-Informed Teaching & Learning



The latest research on the effects of trauma on children, covering the range of emotional and behavioral disorders from attention deficit disorders, to depression, to conduct disorders, and their effects in the classroom. What educators can do to identify these disorders, assist struggling children and support their success.
